Research Cores and Services

IDTM includes three Research Cores (V&IC, HTMPC and CDAC), and Seattle Genomics (SG), the program income extension of HTMPC and CDAC that provide essential capabilities for NHP research at WaNPRC. The services of these Cores are also accessed by local and national investigators as a fee-for-service.

Transcriptional profiling (RNA-seq and microarray) and bioinformatic and computational analyses are also available on a fee-for-service basis through Division-operated Seattle Genomics.

Training Program

IDTM offers a rich environment for training the next generation of scientists in basic and translational NHP research. Each year, IDTM faculty mentor ~40-50 post-doctoral scholars graduate and undergraduate students. WaNPRC and UW offer numerous opportunities to support trainees including career development workshops and opportunities to attend and present at symposia including the NHP primate models for AIDS and WaNPRC’s annual symposium. IDTM also supports the career development early-state investigators funded by career transition grants under the guidance and mentorship of IDTM faculty. Our training program supports development of leadership skills, opportunities to launch new areas of independent NHP research and programs to foster the growth of future leaders in NHP research.
